Kenneth Wilfred Roemer
Mr. Kenneth Wilfred Roemer, 75 of Lewiston passed away at his residence on June 28, 2012 with loving family at his side. He was born to Wilford and Sylvia (Miller) Roemer on September 10, 1936 in Detroit, MI. He married his wife, MaryAnn (Gerhard) Roemer on October 13, 1962 in Detroit and together they shared forty nine wonderful years together, including raising their children. Formally from Detroit, the couple resided in Lewiston for the last forty years. Kenneth started first coming to Lewiston in the 1950s where he had his own hunting camp that he later purchased for his home. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a master carpenter and at one point a gourmet chef. He worked in Warren, MI as a firefighter for many years as well. He was a member of the Knights of Colombus and the Club Alpine Bowling Club. He was an avid outdoorsmen and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trips to the Upper Peninsula, gardening, and wood carving. He was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball fan, Detroit Lions fan, and Michigan State fan. He enjoyed days spent as his cottage on Harson's Island and watching television drama shows such as; CSI, NCIS, and House. Above everything, he enjoyed his time spent with family and friends.
He is survived by wife, MaryAnn Roemer of Lewiston; daughters, Maureen (Ken) Perry of Lewiston; AnnaMarie (John) Deeter of Vanderbilt; Melinda (Jason) Hitsman of Millington; MaryAnn (Charles) Karen of Vienna; nine grandchildren with one on the way; and brothers; Robert Roemer of Warren; Ronald Roemer of Sterling Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilford and Sylvia; son, Kenneth Matthew I; and sister, Lois Puckett.
As were his wishes cremation has taken place and there are no services planned for Mr. Roemer at this time.
