Marrilynn Joyce Burley
Marrilynn Joyce Burley, 74, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Otsego Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 10, 1935 to Joseph and Irene (Campbell) Smith in Dearborn, MI. She grew up in Plymouth, MI, then on to Houghton Lake, finally moving to Atlanta in 1967. She married Robert Burley in 1958. She was a member St Mark's Episcopal Church in Atlanta and many other groups and organizations including: VFW Ladies Auxilliary 9489, FOE Auxilliary Atlanta 4077, Atlanta Senior Citizens, Thunderbay Quilters, Atlanta Art Guild, and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. She also served on the Montmorency County 4H Fair Board, as a Cub Scout Leader, on Boy Scout Committee, and was the first EMT trainer for Tri Township Ambulance. She worked as a RN for many years until she had to retire due to rheumatoid arthritis. She always enjoyed the icing on life's cake; growing up with her family, raising animals and gardening on the "funny farm", collecting antiques, and oil paintings. She loved parades and the Elk Fest Bed Races, and enjoyed coffee or a cold beer with friends.

Marrilynn is survived by her son, Michael (Tracy) Burley of Johannesburg, MI; grandchildren, Allison and Amanda; brothers, James (Geri) Smith of Colorado, and David (Elaine) Smith of Alpena, MI; and a sister, Louise (Bill) Kleinsorge, of Gaylord, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1970.

Memorial services for Mrs. Burley will be held on Thursday, July 16, at 11:00 AM at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI, Pastor Jennifer Titus and Fr Gerry Rehagan officiating.
