Russell Charles Benson
Mr Russell Charles Benson, 63, of Atlanta, MI, passed away on July 27, 2012 at St Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. He was born on Mach 15, 1949 to Russell and Ell (Boehning) Benson in Alpena, MI. He married the former Denise Culver on February 2, 1974 in East Lansing, MI. He grew up in the Atlanta area, moved away, then returned back in 1985. Russell Served his country in the US Army. He retired as a Detective Sergeant in the Michigan State Police after 25+ years of service. He was a member of the VFW Post 9489, American Legion, and Lions Clubs all in Atlanta. He enjoyed spending his winters with his wife in Arizona. Earlier in his life, he loved to go boating out of Cheboygan with friends. He enjoyed fishing, especially to Canada with Kevin. Russell was always busy, always finding something to do around the house and property.

Russell is survived by his wife, Denise; daughter, Lisa Benson of Traverse City, MI; son, Kevin Benson of Oceanside, CA; and sisters, Judith Currie of Atlanta, MI, and Jennie Gilman of Alpena, MI.

As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be graveside services provided by the Atlanta VFW Post 9489 on Thursday, August, 2, 2012 at 2:00PM at the Briley Twp Cemetery, Atlanta, MI.
