Charlotte (Tyler) Allen, 80, of Atlanta was born in Williamston, Michigan on October 19, 1938. She was one of 12 children born to Winfred and Alvin Tyler. She was married to Elwood Shelly, with whom she had six children. They moved to Atlanta in 1972, where they were both involved with many community groups and activities. She was later married to Clyde Allen. Both husband's preceded her in death. Charlotte had worked at Essex factory and at Pine Park AIS home from which she retired. She also spent 27 years as an EMT for Tri Township Ambulance Service where she worked until her passing. She was a lifetime member, as well as a leader for Girl Scouts. She was an active member of the Atlanta Eagles and the Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed camping and get togethers with her family and friends. She enjoyed meeting with friends up at the local restaurants and staying active volunteering in city and township events.
She lives on in her six children; Liz (Roger) Maki of Petoskey; Joe Shelly of Waters; Josie Shelly of Gaylord; Jim (Oscar) Shelly of Romulus; Christine (Dave) Tesner of Capac; Pam (Brad) Fulkerson of Atlanta; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Tyler; sisters-in-law, Diane Tyler; Mabel Hudson; and Susie Kujovich; as well as many nieces and nephews with which she had close relationships. She will be greatly missed by many.
Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Atlanta Bible Church; Pastor Ron Larsen officiating. Visitation will take place from noon until time of service at the church. Interment will follow services at Avery Township Cemetery.
