Barbara Evelyn Parkinson

March 11, 1947 — April 25, 2025

Hillman

Barbara Evelyn Braseth Parkinson, age 78, of Hillman, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home — exactly where she wanted to be — on April 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Barbara was born on March 11, 1947, in Tansem Township, Clayton County, Minnesota. She lived for many years in Clio, Michigan, before retiring with her husband to Hillman. Throughout her life, she was known for her bright, infectious laugh and her warm, constant smile. Barbara had a heart made for caring — whether it was through nurturing her family, offering a helping hand to friends and neighbors, or simply making sure everyone around her felt seen and loved.

She loved spending time playing games, especially Trivial Pursuit, and never passed up the thrill of finding a hidden treasure at a thrift store. Her smile, her light, and her love for simple joys made every gathering feel like home.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, George “Tom” Parkinson; her daughter, Michelle; her son, Tommy; her granddaughters, Jenny and Tory; her grandson, Sean; and her four great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Bradley, Finley, and Brooks.

She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Marvin Berkland (Karen), Beverly Enquist Reston (Rocky), Bruce Enquist (Carol Ann), Ronit Engquist Friedlander (Joe), Dennis Enquist (Pam), and Marlowe Enquist (Aleesa).

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Clarise Hanson and Everett Oris Braseth and her brother Darrell Engquist (Donna).

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7th, 2025, at 12pm at Barbara and Tom’s home in Hillman, Michigan, where family and friends will gather to share the many happy memories, she created.

Barb lived her life with laughter, love, and kindness — and those who knew her will carry her spirit with them. We will remember her smile, her laugh, her intelligence, and her heart — always.
