Cletus John LaFollette

Mr. Cletus John LaFollette, 83 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in the home that he built with his two bare hands with measurements only in his head on February 22, 2024. He was born in Adrian, Michigan on December 4, 1940, to the late Irving and Doris (Raymond) LaFollette. He spent 64 ¾ years alongside his wife, Shirley (Miller) LaFollette creating memories and raising their children. Cletus was a semi-truck driver for 40+ years and recently worked with Tecumseh Products before his retirement. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed snowmobiling and time spent with his special grandchildren. He is and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. 

 Cletus is survived by his loving wife, Shirley LaFollette; children, Cheri LaFollette, Nancy (Robert) Hejl, and Bret (Angie) LaFollette; grandchildren, Tyler (Liz) Hejl, Jessica Hejl, and Bailey Hejl; siblings, Elaine Summers, Mary Goll, Sharon (Robert) Lips, Tom (Carmen) Love, Ralph (Linda) Love, Pat Beach, Debra Corbin, Robert (Bonnie) Love, Norm (Nikki) Love, and Brian (Sandy) Love. He was preceded in death by his father, Irving LaFollette, mother and stepfather, Doris (Robert) Love, in-laws, Earle Miller and Geraldine Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Roberta (Verne) Lambert; brother-in-law, Dale Summers; and nephew, Dale H. Summers Jr.

 In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family wishes to remember Cletus privately at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Cletus to Compassus Hospice, 109 N. 2nd Avenue #201 Alpena, Michigan 49707.
