Darlene Lynn Dunsmore-Curtis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, foster parent, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 11, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born in Howell, Michigan, to Barbara and Jim Dunsmore, Darlene dedicated her life to serving others with compassion, kindness, and unwavering love. On July 19, 1991, she married the love of her life, Duane Curtis, and together they built a home centered on faith, family, and caring for those in need.

For 25 years, Darlene and Duane opened their hearts and home as foster parents to hundreds of children. For 36 years, Darlene devoted herself to caring for children and young adults with special needs in Howell, Michigan. She had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

A true Leo, Darlene was known for speaking her mind with honesty and love, whether others wanted to hear it or not. She was always there when someone needed food, clothing, childcare, encouragement, or simply a listening ear. Family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike could count on her generosity, selflessness, and unwavering support.

Her kindness touched countless lives.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Duane Curtis; her eight children; her unofficially adopted daughters, Katee (Colin), whom she loved as her own for more than 22 years, and Emily (Forrest); 21 cherished grandchildren; and many dear friends who became family throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Jim Dunsmore, and her brother, Karl Dunsmore.

Later in life, Darlene came to know and trust Jesus Christ as her Savior. Her faith became an important part of her life, and she found great joy in encouraging others with kind words and sharing the hope and love she found in God. She had a special gift for finding those who felt lost, forgotten, or alone and taking them under her wing. Her love, compassion, and willingness to always be there for others will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.

Darlene's legacy faith, generosity, compassion, and unconditional love will ive on through the many children, families, friends, and community members she cared fo hroughout her life.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
