IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas
Trembath
May 26, 1934 – March 14, 2026
Doug Trembath, 91, died peacefully at his home in Atlanta, Michigan on March 14, 2026. He was born on May 26, 1934 in Highland Park, Michigan to William and Minnie (Hutchins) Trembath. He married Bonnie Sandri on April 13, 1957. They were married for almost 56 years, until her passing in 2013. Doug served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957, stationed in Missouri. Formerly of Livonia, he joined the painters union in 1953 and worked as a painter until his retirement.
He built his home in Atlanta in the 1980s and moved there full time after he retired in 1992. He took pride in his home, taking care of everything meticulously and even plowing his own snow well into his 80s. Doug enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family and friends. He joined the Wee Otters camping club in the 1960s, camping and snowmobiling throughout the years. He loved taking his family out for rides on the pontoon boat. He was also a member of the Atlanta Eagles and stayed busy golfing and playing shuffleboard. Doug and Bonnie spent their retirement traveling, visiting Mexico, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand and 49/50 U.S. states (Texas was the last one on his list!).
Anyone who was lucky enough to know Doug knew he was the life of the party. His booming voice announced his arrival in any room, and he loved meeting new people. He would light up whenever he got the chance to tell stories and jokes and loved making people laugh. It didn’t matter if you were a close friend or a stranger, Doug made you feel like he knew you forever. His contribution to the world was his big smile and his laugh. He kept people laughing and was full of life up until the very end. He will be dearly missed.
Doug is survived by daughters, Kathie (Chris) MacLean and Donna (Ken) Ludwick; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Bonnie Trembath; brother, Wilfred (Wolfie) Trembath; daughter, Judy Trembath; and granddaughter, Chelsea MacLean.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
