Dr. Charles Peter Russo, DO Dr. Charles Peter Russo, DO, 88 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully on the early morning of April 25, 2016 at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord. He was born on December 16, 1927 to the late, Samuel and Anna (Delia) Russo in Detroit, Michigan. He was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II also serving in the United States Air Force and the Army Reserves. During the war, he served on the honor guard for General MacArthur, and attended reunions over the years with the men that served with him. He married his wife, Mary (Cupelli) Russo in Detroit on August 23, 1952 and together the couple celebrated 63 years of marriage before his passing. He owned and operated Lewiston Medical Clinic in Lewiston for 30 years and served as the Montmorency County Medical Examiner for many years. He delivered many babies over the years at his office, and also made house calls with his patients as well. Charles was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. He was also a private pilot and loved to fly in his old Stinson. He enjoyed working outdoors doing woodworking and building furniture and bookcases. Above all that he did, he enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Mary Russo of Lewiston; sons, Sam (Christine Lundeen) Russo of Lewiston; Charles (Sandra) Russo of Rochester, Minnesota; Christopher (Marylou) Russo of Corona, California; Paul (Kathy) Russo of Warren; David (Robin) Russo of Lewiston; James (Diane) Russo of Palmer, Alaska; daughters, Annette (Sam) Harma of Manistique; Madonna Russo of Cheboygan; Catherine (Dave) Goosen of Gaylord; Patrice (Jim) Bush of Johannesburg; 18 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Annie (Jim) Fradl of Harrisville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Anna Russo; brothers, Richard and Sam; and sisters, Mary, Angie, and Frances. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial mass held in celebration of Dr Russo's life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Lewiston; Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service. Military honors will be provided the by U.S. Army.
