Duane Pryor

November 9, 1957 — November 15, 2018

Duane F. Pryor Duane F. Pryor was born on November 9, 1957 and died on November 15, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father Billy E Pryor and his mother Martha Pryor. He is survived by his former wife, Mary Burek; brothers and sisters Don (Laurie) Pryor, Rita (Al) Perry, Karen (John) Kukuk, Cathy (Tim) Ellis, David (Tally) Pryor; and many nieces and nephews Duane grew up in Auburn Heights, MI as the fifth of six children. He, his parents, and brother David moved up north in 1968. From that moment, up north was his home. Here he found the space and supplies that grew him into a carpenter and builder. Duane loved to create things with his hands - throughout his life he was a potter, painter, and woodworker. He was at his happiest helping to build and improve many homes and businesses in the Atlanta area and downstate for family members. Family and the outdoors were vital parts of Duane's life. His middle name F was in honor of his grandfather Fred Pryor. For years he and his father Bill enjoyed fishing regularly in the summer and loved deer hunting. After high school and in love he traveled to California and around the country. When it was time to come home to Michigan he and his wife bought property and built a home outside of Atlanta where apple trees lined the drive. There they shared much laughter and made many memories, often with family from the city and other friends. Duane was also an uncle to 11 nephews and nieces who he inspired and motivated in more ways than he probably ever knew. Their childhood memories of him invoke terms like Superman, laughter, and echos of the praise he was always showing them. His laughter, smiles, and struggles never broke his spirit and he will be forever missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 1-3 pm at the Eagles Lodge in Atlanta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Montmorency County Library, Atlanta Branch, 11901 Haymeadow - PO Box 438, Atlanta, MI 49709.
