Earlene W. Rea Mrs. Earlene W. Rea, 84, of Hillman, Michigan passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Tendercare Alpena. She was born to Earl and Laura (McCall) Pierce in Spruce, Michigan. Earlene lived most of her life in the Hillman area. She was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church and also of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in both Spruce and Hillman. She served as president of the organization from 1962-1963 in Hillman. She was a hard worker and enjoyed canning her own vegetables. She liked to collect turtles. Above everything, Earlene loved to take care of her family and was loving known as "Sis." Earlene is survived by her sons, David (Andrea) Mellingen of Atlanta; Mark (Karen) Mellingen of Hillman; Rick (Nancy) Rea of Roscommon; and Art (Mary Lu) Rea of Denver, Colorado; daughters, Helen (Joe) Pascucci of East Jordan; Claudia Summerhill of Hartford; Brenda (Mark) Bailer of Hillman; and Laura (Denny) Desgrange of Atlanta; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Pat (Alfred) Eller of Ossineke; Joann (Don) Zelk of Islamorada, Florida, and Janet Spigelmyre of Ossineke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Rea in 1981. Funeral services for Mrs. Rea will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 PM at the Calvary Episcopal Church, Hillman, Rev. Mary Fitzgerald officiating. Visitation hours will be held on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials to Hospice of Michigan, Alpena.
