Edythe L. McSwain, 96 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully on March 25, 2026 at her in Atlanta surrounded by family. She was born on October 27, 1929 in Ferndale, Michigan to the late Bird and Lillian (Ruff) Gazlay. Edythe was a great cook, and she loved to go camping, bus trips with Good Times Travel, trips to the casino, doing word search puzzles and coloring. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandma. Her family meant everything to her. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew them knew she was a shining star in their eyes; and that’s all that ever mattered to her.

She is survived by her four children, James (Gloria) McSwain, Brenda Hibner, Lorraine McSwain, and Wendy Stevens all of Atlanta; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; granddaughter, Summer Skye; and her five sisters, Mary, Marge, Marilyn, Arlene, and Dorthry. There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in our hearts.

Funeral services for Edythe will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Green Funeral Home, Atlanta. Visitation will take place at 1:00 PM until time of service. Interment will take place at Avery Township Cemetery in the Spring where Edythe will be laid to rest. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
