Eleanor Creary

Mrs. Eleanor Gennick Creary, 89 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at MediLodge of Gaylord on the early morning of October 6, 2022. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 10, 1933 to the late Nicholas and Katherine (Craw) Gennick. She played on the field hockey team in high school, and one of her first jobs was as a ballroom dance instructor for Arthur Murray dance studio in Detroit. She went on to work as a secretary at GM Research Laboratories in the chemistry department while working on her degree in sociology. She also enjoyed going on weekend ski trips with her friends. Eleanor lived in several different states including Ohio, Maryland (DC area), New Jersey, and California. She enjoyed going on hiking trips with her family and in the ‘80s she took a trip to Egypt. She referred to it as her big trip. She has resided in Lewiston for the last 32 years. Eleanor was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and volunteered a lot of her time at the Lewiston Area Historical Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading about science, archaeology, astronomy, and nature. She was a cat lover and had many throughout the years. She is and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Creary of Lewiston, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Katherine Gennick; siblings, Bill, Fred, George, and Genevieve.

Funeral services for Mrs. Creary will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Fr. Al Pillarelli officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service. Interment will follow services at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery.
