Ellen Godi Mrs. Ellen Marie Godi, age 69 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away in Leesburg, Florida on December 25, 2017 to celebrate Christmas with our Lord and Savior. Ellen was born on October 11, 1948 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late, John and Joann (Polzin) Belt. She was later adopted by the late, Frederick Hagerl and Joann (Belt) Hagerl. She earned her BA from Olivet College and her MAT from Saginaw Valley State University and had a career as a public school teacher. She married Paul Godi on May 12, 1972 in Bridgeport, Michigan and together the couple celebrated 45 years of marriage before her passing. Ellen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Birch Run, as well as her church choir. She enjoyed reading, quilting, cross-stitch, sewing, gardening, painting, and crafting. She will be missed by her husband, Paul Godi of Atlanta; children, Sarah (Steve) Cook of Lake Odessa; Eric (Stefania) Godi of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Joanna (Jacob) Burnett of Mt. Morris; grandchildren, Jade Burnett; Isabella Godi; Jerome Burnett; Wayne Cook; and David Godi; sister, Elizabeth Niepoth of Georgia; brother, James Hagerl of New Mexico; sister, Leanne Clift of Texas; sister, Claire Sprau of Michigan; brother, Greg Hagerl of Colorado; and brother, William Hagerl of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerome and Loretta Godi; and brothers, Ronald and Frederick Hagerl. Funeral services for Mrs. Godi will take place at 11:00AM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Jesus The Good Shepherd Catholic Church; Atlanta; Fr. Michael Conner officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Green Funeral Home; Atlanta from 4:00PM until 8:00PM and again on Friday from 10:00AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Ellen's honor to the Atlanta VFW Post 9489 or to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
