Ethel Lamberton

Ethel Margaret Lamberton Mrs. Ethel Margaret Lamberton passed away on March 18, 2014 at AuSable Community in Fairview, Michigan. She was born to the late Wilhelmina and Albert Mertens in Detroit, Michigan on December 6, 1915. She married James Joseph (Jim)Lamberton on April 28, 1934 and together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 1978. Ethel and Jim made their family home first in Waterford, MI then in Davisburg, MI. In their retirement years they settled in Atlanta, MI. After Jim's passing, Ethel lived with her daughters in New Mexico and then Texas. Ethel was fondly known as Tudy to family and friends. From the 1930s through 1953, she worked at Pontiac State Hospital helping to provide care for the mentally ill. She loved music and played the piano up until her most recent illness. She also loved playing cribbage, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, and the beauty of the outdoors. Ethel is survived by four of her children: daughter, Donna Kay Stiles (William) of San Angelo, Texas; son, Edwin Richard of Lewiston, MI; daughter, Karlene Marie McLaren (Bruce) of San Angelo, Texas; and daughter, Kathy Sue Crosby (Eugene) of Grand Rapids, MI; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Elizabeth Ruth Tower of Comins, MI and her son, Arthur John (Jack) Davidson of Mio, MI. Ethel and Jim opened their home to many other children during their marriage and she will be fondly remembered by all. Cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held on May 20, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Ottawa Park Cemetery in Waterford, MI. A memorial service will be held for family and friends in the spring.
