Mrs. Eugenia “Jean” Czopek, longtime resident of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at her home on February 9, 2026 at the age of 83. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 1, 1942 to the late Henry and Genevieve (Kowalski) Grabowski. After high school, Jean attended Wayne State University where she received her undergrad and continued her education, graduating with her Master’s degree from Central Michigan University in 2000. At the age of 22, she married William Czopek, and together they raised two boys and celebrated 61 years of marriage. Jean was steadfast in her faith and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Lewiston Historical Society and the Red Hats. She belonged to a sorority group of ladies that would meet monthly to offer encouragement and support to one another. She loved to paint and arts and crafts of all kinds. Jean leaves her family with beautiful memories and many of the treasures she created. She is and will be deeply missed.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, William “Bill” Czopek; son, Michael (Anne) Czopek; grandchildren, Kate, Zach, Madeline, Emily, Kayla, David, Kenny, and Sheri; two great-grandchildren; sister, Judy (Gary) Coppa; brother, Tom (Kathy) Grabowski; and daughter-in-law, TracyBeth Czopek. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Genevieve Grabowski; and son, William, US Army Combat Veteran.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lewiston. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until time of Mass. There will be a luncheon following services. Inurnment will take place at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. Jude’s or the Shriners Hospital in memory of Jean. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home.
