Mr. George “Bud” Code Jr, 92 of Lewiston, Michigan passed on the early morning of July 21, 2022 at his home surrounded by the love of his children. He was welcomed into Heaven with open arms by his late wife, Wanda and son, Donald Bruce. Bud was born in Birmingham, Michigan on March 13, 1930 to the late, George and Elsie (Nelson) Code Sr. He has resided in Lewiston for the past 30 years, and before that the Code’s lived in rural Howell, Michigan. Bud was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lewiston Moose Chapter #2495, and a lifetime member of the Elk’s Lodge, the Michigan Steam Engine and Thresher’s Club, and the Alpena Antique Tractor and Steam Engine Club. Steam engines were a passion of Bud’s and each year he would participate in Timbertown in Lewiston cutting wood with his steam engine. Alongside Wanda, they often traveled to steam engine shows together. Bud was a hard worker and worked full time driving truck. He drove all around Michigan and the Great Lakes hauling salt. He hauled gravel to help with the construction of the Mackinac Bridge, as well as Tiger Stadium and the Detroit Metro Airport. He also enjoyed cutting and splitting wood, golfing, fishing, hunting, and enjoying all the outdoors had to offer. His mother nicknamed him Bud because he was always everyone’s buddy.
He is survived by his children, Sally Code of Waters; LeeAnn Williamson of Lewiston; Karen (Donald) Poore of Mount Shasta, California; Cindy Bullinger of Hartland; Tim (Chris) Code of Howell; grandchildren, Jason, Eric, Keith, Bryan, Gavin, Clayton, and Stephanie; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie Code; wife, Wanda; son, Donald Bruce; and brother, Donald Francis.
Funeral services for Mr. Code will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Lewiston; Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Visitation will take place at Green Funeral Home, Lewiston on Thursday, July 28, 2022 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Friday at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.
