Gertrude Alice Sewell Mrs. Gertrude Alice Sewell, 95 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully on December 16, 2018 at Aspen Ridge Retirement Village in Gaylord. She was born to the late, William and Kathryne (Keep) Anderson in Armada, Michigan on August 19, 1923. She served her country proudly in the United States Army during World War II as Lieutenant. Gertrude was a registered nurse for 25+ years at hospitals and clinics and in the Philippines during her time in service. On June 21, 1947 in Washington she married her husband, Walter Sewell, and together the couple celebrated 71 years of marriage before her passing. The couple moved to Lewiston in 1984 from Washington having visited the area since 1950. She was a member of the Bradenton Presbyterian Church and president of the Garden Club in Washington. She was also on the PTA and was a Brownie leader. Gertrude enjoyed traveling and spent the winters in Florida. Above everything she did, she cherished her time spent with family and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Walt of Lewiston; daughters, Kathy (Paul) Eschenburg; Suzy Scott; son, Doug (Sheryl) Sewell all of Lewiston; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Kathryne Anderson; and brothers, Charles and Gilbert Anderson.
As were her wishes cremation has taken place and the family has chosen to remember Gertrude privately.
