Glenn Arthur Downie Glenn Arthur Downie, 63, died on July 2, 2015. He was born on September 12, 1951 to Everett and Trena (Gauthier) Downie in Harrisville, MI. He married Geriann Beck on June 5, 1975. Glenn served his country in the US Army for 2.5 years, then returned to the US Navy and retired in 2003 as a Chief Photo Mate after 20 years of service. Glenn earned his Bachelor's of Fine Arts from Western Michigan University, after attending Northern Michigan University as well. He was a talented artist, avid cyclist, a passionate explorer of ideas, a lover of conversation, and a maker of laughter. After residing in the Norfolk, VA area for 19 years, Glenn and his wife settled in Hillman in 2013. Once here in Hillman, he fell in love with bird watching, including some beautiful photographs and videos of the native birds here. Glenn is survived by his wife, Geriann Beck of Hillman; son, Ian Downie of Stafford County, VA; and siblings, Eugene Downie of Waterford, MI, Janet (Robert) Wildman of Cheboygan, MI, Nancy (Jack) Gagnon of Cheboygan, MI, Donald (Patricia) Downie of Grand Blanc, MI, Patricia Collins of Flint, MI, Roy (Mary) Downie of Troy MI, Jack Downie of Taylor, MI, Marion (Richard) Waite of Michigan, and Linda (Randy) Richey of Lewiston, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Trena; a daughter, Dylan Downie; and a brother, Robert. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Mr. Downie's life on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM, at New Beginnings Ministry, Hillman, Michigan, Pastor David Hill officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until time of service at the church.
