Obituary

Mrs. Grace Marie Franzoni, age 89 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on June 13, 2026. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late John J. and Frances L. (Scanlon) Fransen on July 2, 1936. Before 66 years of marriage, beginning in 1958, Grace was employed several years in management at a Detroit Household Finance office. Her husband Aristide “Bud” retired to Atlanta in 1994 where they resided together for 30 years. As a couple, they were local members of Atlanta’s Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, VFW Post 9489, and the Eagles Post 4077.

Grace’s earlier hobbies were letter correspondence, reading of mystery books, ceramics, needlework, the viewing of movies, and casino slot machines. She and Bud also immensely enjoyed playing card games with friends and hosting card parties in their homes throughout their marriage.

Grace is survived by 3 children: Bonnie, John (Selena), and Frances; 8 grandchildren: Andrew, Zachary (Dinitri), Dawn, Geno, Justin, Hailey, Danielle, and Tessa; 16 great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Aaliyah, Damon, Amaya, Alexavier, Donovann, Attilio, Tiarra, Trulee, Matteo, Jagger, Savannah, Nevaeh, Amayah, Owen, and Lilyanna; and 3 great-great-grandsons: Donovann Jr, Ezzra, and Jonathan.

Grace was preceded in death by her Korean War veteran husband, Aristide “Bud” Franzoni; twin daughters, Dawn Dudansky and Mary Franzoni; her parents, John and Frances Fransen; brother, Jack (Barbara) Fransen; and sister, Patricia Fransen. Grace was loved and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 19, 2026 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Hillman; Rev. Ben Martin officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. At noon, a luncheon will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Monday, June 22, 2026 at insert time. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
