Mr. Gregory Donald Wright, 71 of Hubbard Lake, Michigan died suddenly on February 4, 2024 at his home. He was born on September 10, 1952 in Flint, Michigan to Donald and Betty (Powell) Wright. Greg worked in law enforcement following in the footsteps of his family with a combined 100 years of working in law enforcement. He was very proud of that achievement. He worked for the Montmorency County Sheriff’s Department, Negaunee Police Department, and Custer County Sheriff’s Department in Idaho from the years 1978-2011. He also worked as the firearms instructor for each of those departments. Prior to his work in law enforcement, he worked at Fletcher Paper Company and cut trees with Rick and Lem Cordes, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. Greg owned his own firing range and enjoyed reloading and shooting his guns. He loved wildlife and the animals they owned including horses, mini horses, donkeys, and two pet cows. He was an extremely social man and would talk on the phone every day with friends. Above everything, Greg valued the time that he spent with his family. He is and will be deeply missed.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Shannon Wright of Hubbard Lake; children, Amanda (Bradley) Thomson of Lachine, John (Lindsey) Wright of Marquette, Matthew Wright of Alpena, Nicole Wright of Norway; grandchildren, Dillon, Lucas, Isaac, Maddy, Avery, Reid, Carson, Jack, and Darien; mother, Betty Wright of Hillman; and brother, Curtis (Mel) Wright of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald.
