Jack E. Schlecht Jack E. Schlecht, 80, of Lewiston, passed away on June 17, 2006 at his residence following an extended illness. Jack was born Septmeber 18, 1925 in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of William and Lida (Saine) Schlecht. He worked a variety of jobs during his life, including Hoover Ball Bearing, Ford Motor Company, Ann Arbor Pipe and Supply and the Ann Arbor Fire Department. He then moved to Lewiston in 1974 and retired from Standard Products Company in Gaylord. He and his wife Rachel, operated the Floodwater Canteen in Hillman until her death in 1993. He and his daughter Sharon continued to operate the Canteen until his illness forced them to close earlier this year. Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing with his buddy. Jack is survived by his children, Sharon DeSautle of Lewiston, Terry (Bob) Ferrier of Tucson, AZ, Jackie (Glen) Miller of Jackson, MI, Steven (Katie) Schlecht, Jim (Jody) Schlecht, and Susan Bryant, all of Lewiston; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, a sister, Marion Knight of Ann Arbor, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. As Jack requested, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to the Schlecht family in care of Green Funeral Home.
