James Rebennack

James (Jim) Rebennack Mr. James (Jim) Rebennack, 87 of Traverse City, MI and Sun City, AZ passed away on April 3, 2016 at his home in Midland, Michigan with his wife Mavis at his side after a brief illness. He was born in Indiana on January 16, 1929 the son of the late Walter and Mary (Wendling) Rebennack. He married wife Mavis Stevens in Atlanta, MI on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1953. Jim started out life in Indiana, but went to high school in Detroit MI. He attended Central Michigan University and played basketball as a freshman. While he played basketball in college, his real love was baseball. Jim had a try-out for the St. Louis Brown's (MLB) and was invited to spring training. He missed his baseball window after suffering a broken neck in a car accident just prior to baseball spring training. He moved on to Golf (although never missing a Detroit Tiger game by radio or TV) and enjoyed playing golf almost daily until he lost his vision a few years ago. Jim had a success career with Borg Warner (Chicago/Detroit) where he worked for 34 years before taking early retirement in 1987. He and wife, Mavis, then split their time as snowbirds in Sun City, AZ and Traverse City, MI before spending the last few years dedicated in Midland, MI. He is survived by his wife Mavis (Rebennack) Stevens, Midland MI; niece and nephew's Deborah Wilson, Grand Blanc, MI and Dennis Wilson, Midland, MI; Eugene Moreau, Jr. Chalkhill, PA; Steven (MaryAnn) Moreau, Markleysburg, PA; Pierre (Carol) Moreau, Mars, PA; Philip (LeeAnn) Moreua, Oakland, MD; Daniel (Hope) Moreau, Uniontown, PA; Victor Moreau, Swanton, MD; Aimee (Madjid) Kadri, Pittsburgh, PA; Jennifer (Kenneth) Moreau-Show, Uniontown, PA. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-laws: Sylvia (Wilson) Stevens and Dorine (Moreau) Stevens. Funeral services for Mr Rebennack will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Green Funeral Home, Atlanta, MI. Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 PM and again from 10:00 AM on Thursday until time of service.
