Mrs. Johanna Joyce Knasiak, 87 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at Otsego Memorial Hospital in Gaylord on July 17, 2019. She was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late, William and Caroline (Kieturkiewicz) Schuster on August 22, 1931. She married her husband, Frank Knasiak on December 1, 1951 in Detroit. He preceded her in death in 1988. Johanna resided in Lewiston for the last 38 years and had visited and vacationed there since 1987. She was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and loved her friends in Lewiston. She worked as a LPN at Martin Place Hospital West for 10+ years and also at the Health Department in Atlanta for 15+ years. She enjoyed snowmobiling and downhill skiing with family in her younger years, and loved to country line dance when she was able. She enjoyed traveling and volunteered for both the Special Olympics and for PGA tournaments in Michigan and Arizona. Above everything, she enjoyed her time spent with both family and friends and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, David (Nohora) Knasiak of St. Petersburg, Florida; Kenneth (Joanne) Knasiak of Detroit; Karl Knasiak of Lewiston; Thomas (Rowena) Knasiak of Hartland; two grandchildren, Arianna and Gabriela; and sister, Barbara Holzwart of St. Clair Shores. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Caroline Schuster; husband, Frank Bernard Knasiak; son, Frank Matthew; and brothers, Leo Schuster and William Schuster Jr.
A mass of Christian burial will take place for Mrs. Knasiak at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 26, 2019 at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held on Friday at the church from 10:30 AM until time of service. Interment will take place at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery, Lewiston.
