Jon Frederick Peterson, 47 of Atlanta, Michigan passed away suddenly at his home on August 4, 2026. He was born in Alpena, Michigan on August 26, 1978 to the late Roger Peterson and Claudia Harris. He resided in Atlanta all of his life. On December 15, 2004 he married his wife, Lucinda (Blackburn) Peterson and together they celebrated 21 years of marriage before his passing.

Jon found some of his greatest joys in the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting, and especially enjoyed morel mushroom picking, always appreciating the time spent exploring the outdoors and being surrounded by nature. When winter arrived, he traded his fishing boat for the ice, enjoying ice fishing and snowmobiling. One of his most loyal companions was his beloved Maltese, Abby, who held a special place in his heart and was never far from his side. Jon is and will be deeply missed.

He is remembered by his loving wife, Lucinda Peterson; daughter, Josie (Angelo) Engilis; stepchildren, Ashley (D.J.) Homant, Timothy Allen; three grandchildren; siblings, Rachel and Roger; grandma, Margaret Peterson; and aunt, Sonia Peterson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger Peterson and Claudia Harris; and stepmother, Francine Harris.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration held in honor of Jon’s life at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
