Karlis Janis Lazda

Karlis Janis Lazda, 60, of Lewiston, MI, passed on November 11, 2025 at home. He was born in Cleveland, OH to Dainis and Mara (Ilins) on October 26, 1965. Karlis had a great passion for skiing which he shared with his daughter, Kaija. They both enjoyed hitting the slopes in Michigan, Colorado, Montana and Canada. Karlis worked as a Zone Silviculturist for the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Huron-Manistee National Forests. In his spare time, he was a woodworking craftsman who enjoyed building furniture. Karlis was a kind person with a huge heart and a beautiful smile. He loved his boxer side kick, Boksis. Karlis was very loved and will be greatly missed. 

He is remembered by his loving wife, Krista; his daughter, Kaija; mother, Mara; sister, Laura; brother, Paulis (Daina); nieces, Selga and Zinta; nephew, Kristaps; uncle, Uncle Janis (godmother Velta); cousins, Mara (Roark); Andrejs (Anna); Janis (Alexis); aunt Irene; in-laws, Maris (Erika) Treiguts; brother-in-law, Viktor Treiguts and his children, Markus and Karina. He was preceded in death by his father Dainis and uncle Paulis. 

Funeral services for Karlis will take place at Boyne Mountain Resort (1 Boyne Mountain Road, Boyne Falls, MI 49713) on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Visitation will take place from 10:30 to 11:30, service from 11:30 to 12:30 pm. Luncheon to follow. While R.S.V.P. is not necessary, please consider letting us know if you will be in attendance so that we can better plan the event. Please R.S.V.P. to Krista.
