Kennith Stanley VanVolkenburg Mr. Kennith Stanley VanVolkenburg, 76, of Hillman, passed away at his residence on April 19, 2017. He was born on June 10, 1940 to Minard and Leona (Favel) VanVolkenburg in Hillman Township. He married Carolyn Miller on March 15, 1969 in Alpena, Michigan, and the couple enjoyed forty eight loving years of marriage before his passing. He has lived in Hillman most of his life. He enjoyed watching movies on television and loved the outdoors. He loved his adopted dog, "Patches", who became his best friend. Above all else, he loved his time spent with his family and will be dearly missed. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn; sons, Linwood and Kenneth of Woodland Hills, California; daughters, Paulette Gohl of Alpena, Michigan, Linda VanVolkenburg of Oscoda, Michigan, Sheila Burns of Atlanta, Michigan, and Carol Sue VanVolkenburg, "Daddy's spoiled brat", of Hillman; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Gary (Delores) of Lachine, Abe (June) of Ossineke, and Joe of Alpena; numerous nieces and nephews; adopted daughter, Richelle Bertrand-Bosely of Queen Creek, Arizona; and his best friend, George Galster. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minard and Leona, son, Carl, grandson Eric, great grandaughter, Savannah, sister, Helen Armstrong, and brother Howard. As were his wishes, cremation has taken place, and there are no services for Mr. VanVolkenburg planned at this time.
