Marlene Lynne McGrail

Mrs. Marlene Lynne McGrail, 86 of Atlanta, Michigan died peacefully at Medilodge of Green View in Alpena with her loving family at her side on May 13, 2024. She was welcomed into Heaven with outstretched arms by her late husband, John. Marlene and John married on September 6, 1958 in Detroit and celebrated 63 years of marriage and raising their children before his passing in 2021. She was a past member of the VFW in Brimley where she resided for 20 years before moving to Atlanta. Marlene was also an officer with the Ladies Auxiliary in Brimley and was president of Pendills Creek National Fish Hatchery. Marlene had a passion for reading. She would visit the library weekly checking out numerous books at a time. She enjoyed crosswords and word search puzzles. She could often be found reading a book and watching the wildlife out her window. Marlene loved to feed the birds and all the wild animals that would frequent her yard. She had a big heart and a very giving soul. She will be deeply missed.

 Marlene is survived by her children, Patrick (Heather) McGrail of Atlanta; Jill Hendren of Hemit, California; Maureen McGrail of Atlanta; Brian (Tracie) McGrail of Chesterfield; James McGrail of Gaylord; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy (Michael) McGrail of Ontario, Canada; and Linda (Jimmy) Mills of Weeki Wachee, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bertha Hemminghaus; husband, John; and son, John.

 In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Marlene privately at this time. Inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
