Mary Marguerite (Stover) Hect, of Lewiston, Michigan passed away surrounded by her family on July 18, 2026. She was born in Cass City, Michigan on August 19, 1954 to the late Daniel and Kalda (Maxam) Stover. Mary lived in the Mayville and Flint areas of Michigan for most of her life. She moved to Lewiston in 2021 to enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of the woods. She loved animals, especially her cats. Her children and grandchildren, lovingly, nick-named her the “Crazy Cat Lady”. She is deeply missed.
Mary is remembered by her son, Dennis “DJ” (Margaret) Ryckman; daughter, Shannon (Matthew) Morrish, stepson, Jody Cloft-Timmreck; grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Turner, Maegan (Joshua) Lawrence, Tiffany (Eyan) Clark, Samantha Ryckman, Jordan (Coree) Chapman and Faith Morrish; 7 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Bexleigh, Eli, Holden, Odette, Eirinie and Oakley; sisters, Jaqueline Matthews, Christine (Ken) Martin and Lucille (Paul) Franckowiak. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Kalda Stover; and her brother, Daniel “Beau” Stover.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Mount Hope Church, 8363 Embury Rd, Grand Blanc, Michigan 48439. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to All About Animals Rescue in Warren, reflecting her lifelong compassion for cats. All About Animals Rescue, 23451 Pinewood Street, Warren, MI 48091, www.allaboutanimalsrescue.org. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
