Mary Jean Secrist

Mary Jean Secrist, age 98, passed away peacefully in her home on May 30th.

Jean was born weighing 2 pounds, 10 ounces in Owasso MI in January of 1927. Her bed was a shoe box set on the heating grate. She married Ed Secrist in 1949. They had three sons, Michael, Pat and James. Their home was in Midland, MI but on weekends and holidays, their time was spent in Atlanta. Jean taught Good News club and was a cub scout leader. She often drew pictures to illustrate her lessons. Jean was an natural artist. When Ed retired, Atlanta became their full time home. Jean attended The Big Rock Church and enjoyed participating in the bible study groups.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Ed, youngest son, James, granddaughter and a great-grandson. Surviving her is Mike (Gail) Secrist of Bad Axe, Pat (Joanna) Secrist of Atlanta and (Robin) Secrist of Midland. She has one grandson and three great-grandchildren.
