Maureen Sylvia Henze, 90 of Saginaw, Michigan passed away suddenly on September 9, 2026 at her daughter’s home in Atlanta. She was born in Kent, England on July 29, 1936 to the late Fred and Ruby (Cross) Day. At 32 years old, on November 1, 1968 she married Gerald Henze and together they celebrated 57 years of marriage before her passing. Maureen dedicated many years of her life to helping others, working as a teacher’s aide in special education. Her compassion and caring nature made a meaningful difference in the lives of the children she worked with. Her love of teaching also extended into her church community where she taught as the Sunday school teacher. Outside of work, she was an avid bowler. She took great pride in being recognized as “Bowler of the Week,” an accomplishment that was especially meaningful to her. She also loved the excitement of taking trips to the casino and the fun it brought. At home, she had a special fondness for angels and bells, collecting them throughout the years and building a massive collection that became a cherished reflection of her personality and the things she loved. Throughout her 90 years, she touched many lives through her kindness, dedication, faith, and love of others. She is and will be deeply missed.
Maureen is remembered by her loving husband, Gerald Henze; children, Kevin (Amy) Henze, Theresa (Terry) Miller, Maureen Schmidt, Dawn (Tim) Mendenhall, Judy (Louis) Thompson; grandchildren, Coda, Dylan, Holly, Joel, Paul, Jeremy, Melissa, Joshua, Drew, Grace, and Paul; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and lots of friends.
