Peggy Sue O'Brien

February 7, 1959 — September 16, 2025

Atlanta

Ms. Peggy Sue O’Brien, 66 of Atlanta, Michigan took her final trip around the sun on September 16, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was welcomed into Heaven with outstretched arms by her late mom, Betty, who preceded her in death in 2019. Peggy was born in Flint, Michigan on February 7, 1959 to Daniel and Betty (Bullard) O’Brien. She was a hard worker and very dedicated to the family business. Along with her parents, Peggy helped to operate restaurants in Breckenridge and Key West, as well as the Songbird in Mio for ten years. In 2017, the family moved to Atlanta where they owned and operated the Atlanta Country Café and then later on Dano’s Diner, where good food was served and friendships were always made. Peggy could often be found at the front of the restaurant greeting customers and making sure that operations ran smoothly. When she was not at work, she enjoyed skiing, reading, and listening to music. Peggy is and will be deeply missed.

Peggy is remembered by her son, Cole (Teresa) Mortellaro; grandchildren, Amelia and Eva; father, Daniel O’Brien; brothers, Vince O’Brien and Danny O’Brien; and numerous aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Peggy privately at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord.
