Richard Brabender

Richard A. Brabender Richard "Dick" Arthur Brabender, Age 69; of Lewiston, formerly of Little Bass Lake, and St. Clair, MI, lost his battle with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer, Thursday, November 22, 2007. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. Loving husband to Bonnie, for 23 years. Dear father to Jeff Brabender (Debbie) of Salt Lake City, UT; Julie Thomas (Ernie) of Pontiac, MI; Kathy Bruer (Paul) of St. Clair, MI; and stepfather to Ron Bailey (Carol) of Castle Rock, CO; and Connie Webb (Russ) of North Pole, AK. Grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 3. He will also be greatly missed by Lacie, who he often told "You're the best dog I've got". He leaves behind 2 sisters, Susan Welser of St. Clair, MI; and Donna Mau of Hobe Sound, FL; a brother-in-law Bob Woolman of Lewiston, MI. Two sisters preceeded him in death. Joan Ladiski (Paul) and Betty Woolman (Bob). Dick leaves behind far too many friends and relatives to possibly list by name. If he is in your heart, you can be sure that you were in his also. He was born in St. Clair, MI, on November 23, 1937, to the late Art and Lillian Brabender. Those who spent time with Dick heard stories from his many years working in the oil and gas industry, after moving north permanently 17 years ago. Dick and Bonnie have done craft shows until recently. People meant a lot to Dick, and he was grateful for all those who stopped to visit with him over the years. For as many visitors as he's had, it's clear he also had a special place in the hearts of many. Visitation will be at Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, MI, Sunday, November 25, 2007, 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a service to celebrate his life on Monday, November 26, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Sunrise Shore or the Brabender family.
