Robert “Rob” James Smith, 53 of Lewiston, Michigan passed away suddenly on July 16, 2026 at his home.

 He was born in Pontiac, Michigan on May 8, 1973 to Robert and Nancy (Conner) Smith. He resided in Atlanta for most of his life. Rob worked as a driver for Timberline Logging in Gaylord. He loved to drive and be on the open road. He also enjoyed the peace that nature brought when he was hunting for deer, picking mushrooms, or casting a line fishing. He also enjoyed archery. He is and will be deeply missed.

Rob is remembered by his mother, Nancy Smith; daughters, Courtney Smith and Nicole Smith; grandparents, Eugene (Mira) Conner; aunts, Edith Andrews, Madonna Sovey, Edith Cauley, Carol Bingid; special cousins, TJ Stimmer, Jason Stimmer, Dennis Conner Jr, David Conner; and numerous other cousins; and family friend, Charles Burke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; Fr. Scott Lawler officiating. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of Mass with interment following at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Home.
