Ronald Jerome Bemke, 84, of Lewiston, Michigan passed away at his home on January 22, 2020. He was born on August 21, 1935 to Benjamin and Eleanor (Wajanowski) Bemke in Detroit, Michigan. He married the former Shirley Price on May 18, 1957 in Fraser, Michigan. The couple lived in Warren, Michigan, where they were raising their three daughters. In November of 1973 they relocated to Lewiston. Ron worked at Lewiston Lustre in Lewiston, J.D. Phillips in Alpena, and Eagle Window in Lewiston over the years up north. He and his wife opened R & S Gunshop in Lewiston that they worked together for many years. Ron used to love to hunt and fish. Above all else, he enjoyed time with his family and will be dearly missed.
Ron is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Ron) Welsh of Ruskin, Florida, and Denise (Michael) Heyser and Cathy (Pat) Newell, both of Lewiston; grandchildren, Daniel, Mary, David (Valerie), Justin (Jennifer), and Jacob; great grandchildren, Drake, Myla, Krystofer, Persephony, Aurora, Matthew, Nathan, Morissey, Trenton, and Brooklyn; brothers, Kenneth Bemke of Byron Center, Michigan, and Daryl (Gloria) Romatz of Gaylord, Michigan; special friend, Donna Sedan of Atlanta, Michigan; sister in laws, Garneda Jacobs and Penny Price; and brother in laws, Jim, Bob (Deanna), Roger (Cecil), and Bill (Cheryl) Price. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Eleanor; stepfather, Joseph; wife, Shirley; and a brother, Terrance Romatz.
As were his wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Michigan.
