Savage
December 8, 1934 – February 26, 2026
Sally Ann Savage, age 91, of Atlanta, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on February 26, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on December 8, 1934, in Holt, Michigan, Sally was the daughter of James and Ellen (Hicks) Gavine. At age thirteen, she moved to Atlanta, where she spent the rest of her life. As a young woman, she worked at her parents’ restaurant, Gavine’s Café, reflecting the strong work ethic and hospitality she carried throughout her life.
On May 7, 1955, she married Donald Fredrick Savage. They shared nearly 71 years of marriage and built their life together in Atlanta, raising their three children and establishing a home that became a gathering place for family and friends.
Sally was a devoted member of the Atlanta Congregational United Church of Christ and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She loved hosting family gatherings and took pride in her home, never forgetting a special occasion. In later years, she made jams and wine with Don and enjoyed winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, spending time with family.
Sally is survived by her children, Ann Savage and Don (Jessica) Savage; her daughter-in-law, Dawn Savage; her grandchildren, Madison, Samantha, Hayden (Mizuki), Ryan (Jasmine), Kara (Michael), Beth (Rob), PJ, and Brooke; and her great-grandchildren, Landon, Lincoln, Braxton, Barrett, Bowen, and Grace. She is also survived by her sister, Sue Weaver, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; and her son, James Fredrick Savage.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Briley Township Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
