Sandra Labette

March 9, 1959 — October 22, 2019

Lewiston

Sandra Kay LaBette, 60 years old, passed away in her sleep on October 22, 2019, at her home in Lewiston, Michigan.

Sandi was born March 9, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio, to Donald and Ann Finney while her father was in the Air Force. Although she grew up primarily in Michigan, she moved with her family to Memphis, Tennessee, in her junior year where she graduated early from high school. During her life, she worked as an in-home care assistant, flea market vendor, graphic designer and typesetter, and in restaurants and factories.

A colorful individual, both in dress and personality, Sandi was a devoted fan of the Grateful Dead. She cared deeply about social justice issues and was not shy about expressing her views. She possessed a free and generous spirit and welcomed many friends and coworkers into her family over the years. She will be remembered by customers for her booth at the Mio Flea Market and her giant yard sales in Lewiston. And friends and family will never forget the yearly AuSable tubing trips that she organized.

Sandi is survived by her husband, Ed Stockford; son, Damon (Christina) LaBette; granddaughter, Autumn Labette; sister, Cheryllee Finney; niece, Tara Finney; nephews, Tyler Halloran and Corrie Amos; great nieces, Luna Finney and MyKenzie Halloran; and great nephew, Abel Amos; along with the many close friends who became part of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, John and Donald Leroy Finney.
