Sophia Hollias

Sophia Hollias Ms. Sophia Hollias, 103, of Hillman, Michigan, died peacefully on June 12, 2016. She was born on December 27, 1912 to the late, Fred and Mary (Zastannia) Hollias in New York. She moved to Hillman in 1981 and was a resident of the Thunder Bay Heights Group Home since 1986. She liked to travel and took trips to Florida, Frankenmuth, and Mackinac Island. She adored many things such as the color purple, nature, flowers, and going for walks. Sophia was a caring and compassionate person with others and loved babies and children, as well as Centennial Day at the Hillman Community Center. She will be missed greatly by those who knew her. She is survived by her sister, Estelle Morse of Clarkston; niece, Delores (Conrad) Cebulski of Lake; nephew, Robert Sherman of Daytona Beach, Florida; numerous great nieces and nephews; and the loving staff at Thunder Bay Heights. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Hollias; and sisters, Anne Sherman; and Genevieve Jones. Funeral services for Ms. Hollias will take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Hillman, with Fr. Michael Connor officiating.
