Stephen Solonika

Stephen Fred Solonika Mr. Stephen Fred Solonika, 61 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully at MediLodge of Hillman on April 12, 2016. He was born to the late, Mike and Antonetta (Corte) Solonika Jr. on August 29, 1954 in Pennsylvania. Stephen worked for the City of Detroit for 30 years as a paramedic before retiring in 2010 and moving to Hillman. He was a member of the NRA and the Hillman Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, puzzle books, and his volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity. He also donated to the Humane Society. Above everything he did, Stephen enjoyed his time with family and friends and will be dearly missed. He is survived by sons, Steven Solonika; Mike Solonika; Jeff Solonika all of Hillman; daughter, Jennifer Solonika of Hillman; brothers, Michael Solonika; and Joseph (Micky) Solonika both of Eastpointe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Antonetta Solonika Jr. Funeral services for Mr. Solonika will take place at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Green Funeral Home; Hillman; Pastor Dave Hill officiating. Visitation will take place on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the funeral home from 4:00PM until 8:00PM. Interment will follow services at Hillman Rust Township Cemetery; Hillman. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
