Terry Smith

Terry L. Smith Terry Luther Smith, 52, of Hillman, MI passed away suddenly on January 10, 2007 at Alpena Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 23, 1955 to Raymond and Irene (Crosson) Smith in Pontiac, MI. He married the former Lydia Cohoon on July 8, 1978. Terry has lived in Hillman since 1990 formerly of Roseville, MI. He worked as a chef for many years, at Thunder Bay Golf Resort, Canada Creek Ranch, and at Garland Resort. He was currently working at Wal-Mart in receiving. He was the "mushroom king", he loved to hunt morel mushrooms. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to cook and enjoyed dancing. Above all else he loved his family. Terry is survived by his wife, Lydia; son, Terry Smith, daughters, Amanda (Jamie Williams) Smith and LeeAnn (Jeremy) Benac, all of Hillman, MI; grandson Christopher; mother and step father, Irene and Elmer Boitel of Hillman, MI; brothers, Raymond Jr of Hillman, MI, Cecil (Tammia) of Chaska, MN, Gary of Jordan, MN, and David (Tina) of Pontiac, MI; sister, Mary (Clyde) Bandy of Jordan, MN; uncle, Darwin (Barb) Morse of Mt Rose, MI; aunts, Carol Henderson of Manistee, MI, and Cecilia (Dick) Ellis of Orion, MI; step brother, Alan (Kelly) Boitel of Mt Rose, MI; step sisters, Brenda (Barry) Frost of Flint, MI, and Debbie (Rex) Hopkins and Kathy (Duane) Henson, both of Poplar Bluffs, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Smith and Uncle Duane Smith. As were his wishes, his body was donated to the University of Michigan Medical School. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Hillman, Fr Mike Bell officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to the Green Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the Smith Family to set up a memorial college fund for their son, Terry Jr.
