Thomas Rudolph Habitz, 79 of Hillman, Michigan passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loved ones on the evening of June 11, 2026. He was born in Wayne, Michigan on April 19, 1947 as the only son to Rudolph and Devida (Perkins) Habitz. Tom served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1966-1969. Tom was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Michigan Bow Hunters Association. He spent many hours hunting for the largest buck, reading a good book, and watching re-runs of Gunsmoke. He lived simply and valued a traditional way of life, finding solitude in the quiet. Tom is and will be deeply missed.

Tom is remembered by his loving wife, Catherine Habitz; children, Raymond Christopher (Sandy) Cole, Margaret (Darrin) Lienhardt, Meredith (Sean) Franzel, Erin Niegoski; grandchildren, Ashley, Erica, Alexis, Thomas, Julia (Matthew), Evan, Reece, Allison, Veronica, and Carter; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Cassie, and Cole; sister, Bonnie Yeulett; and niece, Jamie (Jason) MacDougall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Devida Habitz.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Tom privately at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in his honor to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 22000 County Road 452, Hillman, Michigan 49746. Arrangements were entrusted to Green Funeral Homes.
