Valerie Jane Shields Ms. Valerie Jane Shields, 51 of Hillman, Michigan died peacefully on September 8, 2017 at Tendercare of Gaylord. She was born on October 15, 1965 in Alma, Michigan the daughter of the late, John and Marian (Hunt) Shields. Formerly of Jacksonville, Florida where she worked as an announcer on the radio, Valerie moved to Hillman in 2006. She worked other various jobs throughout the years. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Free Methodist Church. Valerie enjoyed woodworking, farming, being outdoors and hunting and fishing. Her dog, Chloe was very important to her. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her sister, Marsha (Gary) Veihl of Cheboygan; brother, Tom (Vickie) Shields of Chassel; Perry Shields of West Branch; Dennis (Suwanna) Shields of Hillman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marian Shields. Funeral services for Ms. Shields will take place at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at the Hillman Free Methodist Church; Pastor Mark Ryan officiating. Visitation will take place on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM.
She is survived by her sister, Marsha (Gary) Veihl of Cheboygan; brother, Tom (Vickie) Shields of Chassel; Perry Shields of West Branch; Dennis (Suwanna) Shields of Hillman; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marian Shields.
