Mrs. Wilma L. Beauregard Benac, age 99 of Hillman passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at Chesaning Comfort Care in Chesaning, Michigan. She was born on April 26, 1920 to Albert and E. Maude Beauregard of Loud Township, Montmorency County. She graduated from Hillman High School in 1937. The following year she graduated from Montmorency County Normal in Hillman. Wilma married Wesley A. Benac in December of 1938. She and Wes were involved in many local businesses. They owned the Hillman movie theatre, bowling alley and bowling cafe for several years. They also ran the Thunder Bay Drive-in theatre. They also worked in real estate with Claude Mowery. Later Wilma worked as a postal clerk and postmaster of the Hillman Post Office.
She is survived by her twin sister, Velma R. Beauregard Benac of Chesaning; sister-in-law, Darlene Yarch of Alpena. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Albert and Maude Beauregard; her husband, Wesley A. Benac; siblings, Milford and Ethel Beauregard; Howard and Pauline Beauregard; Holly and Jim Cameron; Kathleen and Dennis Wade; Leafa and Archie Wilson; Helen and Ernest Rea; in laws, Ervin and Mildred Benac; Harold Benac; Walter and Irene Benac; Willis and Phyllis Benac; Mariette Benac; and Gene Yarch.
Funeral services for Mrs. Beauregard will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Green Funeral Home, Hillman. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 15, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Friday from noon until time of service. Interment will follow services at Hillman Rust Township Cemetery. Donations can be made to the Hillman Fire Department or EMS.
