Bessie Verlinde

Mrs. Bessie Minnie Verlinde, 94, of Lewiston, Michigan passed away at her home on May 5, 2019.  She was born on April 28, 1925 to August and Bertha (Menda) Kreger in Warren, Michigan.  She married Charles Verlinde on July 22, 1944 in Centerline, Michigan, having celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death in 2005.  She has resided in Lewiston since 1980 formerly of Farmington, Michigan.  She was a member of St Francis Catholic Church in Lewiston, and was a part of the Ladies Guild there for years.  She was a volunteer for community sharing in Lewiston as well.  She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and reading, especially books about history or "the old days".  Above all else, Bessie loved and treasured her time with her family and will be truly missed.

Bessie is survived by her children, Joann (Joe) Peschke of Lewiston, Michigan, Roy (Brenda) Verlinde of Farmington, Michigan, Patricia (Leslie) Holton of Livonia, Michigan, and Lois Ann Lyons of Martin, Tennessee;  12 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Bertha; sister, Alvina Mierow; and 7 brothers, Albert, Henry, Walter, Herman, Elmer, Alfred, and Norman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Lewiston, Michigan, Father Al Pillarelli officiating.  Visitation hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Green Funeral Home, Lewiston, and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.  Interment will take place at St Francis Catholic Cemetery.  Condolence messages can be sent via our website, www.greenfuneralhomes.com
