Christine Ann Elkie, of Hillman passed away peacefully at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit on August 25, 2020. She was born on December 8, 1965 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Robert and Catherine (Clifford) Heck. She graduated from Hillman High School's "Class of 84." She resided in Hawks for many years until returning to Hillman where she settled to be near friends and family. She will be remembered for her quick wit, infectious smile, dazzling eyes, warm heart, her honesty and integrity. Chris was hard working and had a talent for gardening. She could bring life back to even the most destitute plant and created garden settings that promoted a comforting oasis for her visitors. Admired by her friends and family for her skill and passion for cooking, but also by her patrons who she treated like family. No one would leave hungry or without knowing they were cared for.
Chris was proceeded in death by her parents, Bob and Cathy; grandparents, Jacob and Sarah Heck; grandparents, Jeremiah and Agnus Clifford; brother-in-law, James Burum; and former mother-in-law, Bonnie Elkie. She is survived by her son and his wife, Scott and Ami and soon to be born grandchildren, James and Aubrey; sisters, Joanie, Linda, Sandy; brother-in-law, Todd; and brother Bob and sister-in-law, Tasha; multiple nieces and nephews that she loved like her own and countless friends that she considered her extended family.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Hillman Rust Township Cemetery, Hillman. There will be a procession to the cemetery so friends and family may meet at Green Funeral Home, Hillman at 1:30 PM. A celebration of her life and pot luck will be held at Emerick Park Pavilion #1 immediately after the service until 7:00 PM.
