Douglas Creighton Cheedie

September 22, 1942 ~ December 31, 2020 (age 78)


Mr. Douglas Creighton Cheedie, 78 of Atlanta, Michigan took his final 
post on December 31, 2020.   He was born in Detroit, Michigan on 
September 22, 1942 to the late, William and Myrtle (McBride) Cheedie. 
Douglas served his country proudly from 1963 to 1968 as a sergeant in 
the United States Marine Corps, receiving several accommodations, 
including the Bronze Star.  He also served four years in the USMC 
Reserves. Doug married his wife, Rose (Brooks) Cheedie on February 7, 
1970 and together the couple celebrated 50 years of marriage. Doug 
worked at White Star Trucking in Lincoln Park out of Union Local 299 
for 20 years before moving his family to Atlanta in 1984.  He was a 
member of the Atlanta VFW Post 9489. Doug enjoyed sharing time on the 
family farm, which is named JAG-C after his grandchildren. He was very 
active in supporting all Atlanta athletics and attended events 
whenever possible.  He will be deeply missed by all.

Doug is survived by his wife, Rose Cheedie of Atlanta; daughter Toni 
(Joseph) Crager of Navarre, Florida; son, Troy (Kristen) Cheedie of 
Atlanta; four grandchildren, Chace Hooper, Gage Cheedie, Jace Cheedie 
and Aiden Crager; cousin, Marlene McBride Mann of Brighton; 
sister-in-law, Carolyn (Walter) Cheedie of North Carolina; 
brother-in-law Richard Brooks of Atlanta and multiple generations of 
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William 
Cheedie and Myrtle Cheedie-Meredith; brothers, William D. Cheedie, 
Walter M. Cheedie; sister, Shirley A. Ghist and stepfather Eugene 

God, Family, Country, and Corps.  Semper Fi.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will 
be a graveside service with military honors held for Doug in the 
spring/summer at Briley Township Cemetery, where he will be laid to 
rest. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Atlanta Sports Boosters.
