Mr. Duane "Chuck" Charles Nurkala, 67 of Lewiston, Michigan left this Earth on January 31, 2022 in the comfort of his own home surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 3, 1954 to the late, Duane and Shirley (Winkworth) Nurkala. He married his wife, Terri Coons Nurkala on March 8, 1986 and together the couple celebrated 35 years of marriage before his passing. Formerly of Cumming, Georgia they moved to the Lewiston area three years ago. Chuck was a member of both the Lewiston Fun Ones and the Moose Lodge. He was a skilled carpenter who enjoyed hunting and fly fishing. He was a huge fan of the Michigan Wolverines and loved watching football. Chuck also enjoyed rides on his Harley Davidson motorcycle and most importantly, time spent with family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Terri Coons Nurkala of Lewiston; daughters, Vanessa (Brandon) James of Pontiac; Stephanie Nurkala of Troy; Jami (Darla) Hoopingarner of Maysville, Georgia; grandchildren, Diamond, Brendon, Kaden, Iszak, Michael, and Brandon; siblings, Diane (Jim Thatcher) Williams of Muskegon; Gayle Nurkala of Clarkston; Gina (Jim) Perry of Union Lake; nieces, Kimberly Williams of Muskegon; Jennifer Perry of Pontiac; nephew, Duane (Alexis) Perry of Colorado; father-in-law, Jack Coons of Alpharetta, Georiga; sister-in-law, Vicki Coons; niece, Ryan Garner both of Cumming, Georgia; and best friends, Blayne Scheffler; Ron Edwards both of Lewiston; and Randy Wyatt of Waterford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Shirley Nurkala; and mother-in-law, Irene Coons.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Chuck privately at this time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Michigan, Gaylord.
