Earl Lawson Sockow III, 38 of Gaylord Michigan died on October 25, 2021 from COVID. He was born in Alpena, Michigan on February 14, 1983. He attended Atlanta Community Schools and later received his GED. He then went to trucking school and received his CDL with many other endorsements.
Over the years Earl enjoyed working in several fields, ELS Plumbing and doing Demolition with his dad; Earl Sockow Jr. and Oil Exploration with his Papa; Tom Morton. He started over the road trucking with Swift Transportation Co. which he left so he could be home with his family. He worked for Ron’s Wrecker for several years and for the last few years he has worked for E.F. Wilkinson & Sons.
He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors, playing cards, gaming, gardening, movies and playing bingo with Grandma Jane Kidder. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family. He was a past member of the Eagles which he was fond of because of his Grandpa, Earl Sockow Sr. and his parents, Earl Sockow Jr. and Tom and Julie Morton.
He is survived by his loving companion; Lori Haney, daughter; Alxsis Sue Haney and son; Trevor Haney of Gaylord MI and daughter; Lawson Kern of Lady Lake, Florida; grandmother; Jane Kidder of Atlanta MI; mother, Julie(Thomas)Morton of Atlanta MI; and dad, Earl(Michelle)Sockow Jr. of Commerce Twp. MI; brothers and sisters, Elizabeth(Mark)McArthur of Gaylord MI; Melissa(Josh)Callison of Munising MI; Mickel Garn of Atlanta MI; Tommy(Holly)Nichols of Dearborn Hgts. MI; Tammy(Aran)Wagner of Flat Rock MI; Kyle Sockow of Commerce Twp. MI; Bryan and Steven Lorenz of White Lake MI; brother in-laws; Garry(Jerrica)Haney of Gaylord MI; Chris(Cassie)Horton of Clio MI; and many nephews and nieces. He will be greatly missed by his family.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jerry Kidder, Earl Sockow Sr. and Shirley Sockow; in-laws, Garry and Karen Haney; and his aunt, Jill Kidder.
Memorial Service will take place at the Atlanta Bible Church on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 with the service following at 3:00. The Atlanta Eagles Ladies Auxiliary will provide a luncheon after the service.
Memorial Service will take place at the Orchard Grove Church in Walled Lake, Building C on November 20, 2021. Visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 with the service following at 3:00.
Arrangements were entrusted to Greens Funeral Home. Internment will take place at Avery Township Cemetery following the service.
