Mr. Larry Dean Larson, 73 of Lewiston, Michigan died peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family on the early morning of September 4, 2020. He was born in Flint, Michigan on September 11, 1946 to the late, Archie and Marian (Dean) Larson. In Laingsburg, Michigan on November 18, 1994 he married his wife, Sandra Jean (Purtill) Larson and together the couple celebrated 25 years of marriage before his passing. Originally from the Flint area, Larry resided in Lewiston for the last 16 years. He received his Master's degree in education from Central Michigan University and went on to teach elementary at both Tawas and Shepherd schools. He also coached high school football for both districts. Larry retired in 1996 as the principal of both Shepherd and Laingsburg schools. Larry was an avid golfer and after his retirement he worked as a ranger and a starter at Garland Golf Course. He enjoyed the musical harmonies of blues and jazz and loved Doo-wop. He was also an outdoorsman and spent a lot of his time camping and fishing with his granddaughters. Larry was a hard worker with a passion for life and will certainly be deeply missed.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Larson of Lewiston; daughter, Jennifer Larson of Chicago, Illinois; son, Matthew Larson of Phoenix, Arizona; stepson, Chad (Molly) Darnell of Lake Orion; stepdaughter, Lisa Darnell of New Orleans, Louisiana; grandchildren, Abby Darnell and Lucy Darnell; dear friend, Gene Hackney of Mt. Pleasant; dogs, Max and Bell; and cats, Wooly Bully, Rags, and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Marian Larson; daughter, Amy Beth Larson; and his first wife, Reta Larson.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family has chosen to remember Larry privately at this time.
