Marjean Lafleche

March 17, 1932 — February 11, 2022

Hillman

Marjean Mable (Brandt) LaFleche lived a long and fulfilling life. She passed away on February 11, 2022 at age 89 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on March 17, 1932.

Marjean was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She dedicated her life to loving those around her. To the very end, she expressed her love, whether it was through baking her famous molasses cookies or knitting a pair of mittens or quilting a blanket. Nobody ever left grandma’s house hungry. Her kind, sweet, red hat loving soul will hold a special place in everyone’s heart. Marjean’s loved of plants and flowers was nurtured by her work at Kathy’s Flower Shop.

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hillman. She was very involved with the St. John’s Ladies Aide. She had served on the board at Hillman Senior Citizens Center. She passed on her love of sewing teaching 4H members over the years.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Bert LaFleche; sons, Gary (Sheila), Randy (Mary), Alan (Rose), Gene (Nancy), Mark (Joanne), Dale, John (Shannon), and daughter, Delinn (Wayne) Keetch; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Richard Brandt and Janet Brandt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise; son-in-law, Gary Marquardt; parents, Henry and Arline Brandt; grandchildren, Adam Marquardt; Kirk Jones; Scotti Jo LaFleche; Bence Coleman; siblings, Nelson Brandt; Phyllis Coombs; and Joan James.

In keeping with Marjean’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Royston; Pastor Jason Mandley officiating on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until time of service. The family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan, especially Mandy, for their help and compassion caring for their mother. Those desiring to make contributions in Marjean’s memory can do so to Hospice of Michigan, 145 N. State St, Alpena, MI 49707 or St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aide of Hillman.
